Quilting Guild of The Villages December 17, 2013 Executive Board Meeting
The Executive Board of the Quilting Guild of The Villages met December 17th at Saddlebrook Recreation Center. The meeting was called to order at 3:05 pm by President Alice Nicholas.
President Nicholas held Roll call. New members were introduced. President Nicolas welcomed the new members and thanked the Executive Board for its support during her tenure as President. The Secretary's report was accepted as published. Lucie Verbois gave the Treasurer's Report.
Ruth Mazurski gave the Program Report. The Calendar for next year will be distributed at the January Executive Board meeting. Pay It Forward was introduced. For the Month of January, the Guild will sponsor a member from each chapter to take a guest workshop of their choosing. The only requirement is that the member will talk about the workshop at their chapter and show what they made. Ruth also emphasized the importance of each chapter having a volunteer on the Program Committee so that Guild members are aware of all the quilting classes, workshops and bees that are open to them. The Sterling Heights Torch Lake room has been booked for the Guild. It will be available every Sunday from noon until 4:20 pm. The third Sunday of every month has been reserved for open sewing for anyone in the Guild. Please contact Esther Meinhardt at Sundays@QGOTV.org or 727-391-7979 to make use of this sewing and meeting room.
Webmaster Marilyn Paluszak reported that the Website was up to date and has more than 10,000 images. She volunteered to talk about the website at Chapter Meetings. To set up an appointment contact her at Webmaster@QGOTV.org.
At the November Board meeting, the following motion was approved:
Create a Publicity Advisory Board to consist of 5-7 volunteer members who have prior experience in public relations, marketing and/or sales to draft written guidelines for use by the Executive Board and its Standing Committee chairs.
Marilyn reported that no members as yet have volunteered for this Board.
The Membership Application form which was proposed by the Membership Committee was discussed. Joy Lynch will customize each form to include Chapter specific committees and activities. There was considerable discussion about the need for out-of-town dates and addresses. Since Joy was unavailable to answer questions about the form it has been tabled to the January Executive Board meeting. The current membership is 878.
Under MarketPlace 2014, Ann Moroz reported that there will be a Notion Commotion. Each vendor has been asked to donate a quilting notion. Each person who attends MarketPlace will be given a punch/stamp card to fill out at each vendor. Completed cards will be placed in a drawing and the winner will be awarded all the donated notions. Lucie Verbois handed out Volunteer sheets for Angels, Admissions and Door Monitors. Completed sheets are to be handed in at the January 7th Guild meeting. (Don't forget there is free admission for the day a member is volunteering!) Chapter baskets are to be handed in at the MarketPlace between 10am and 4pm on Thursday, January 23rd while items for the Guild baskets are to be handed in at the January 7th Guild Meeting.
Sharon Musch reported on Showcase 2015. Monthly meetings will start in January 2014; all chapters are to have a delegate at each meeting. They will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Washington prior to the Guild meeting.
The Open Forum was postponed.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:30 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Heather Farnell, Secretary
