In 2003, Ann Vogel (Piecemakers Chapter) was looking for an idea for a raffle quilt for the Quilting Guild of The Villages. She had seen a quilt pattern for houses in Texas and came up with the idea to use landmarks in The Villages. She called Jacki Whitehead, Rose Luehsen, Sue Ann Corkish and Ginger Fullmer from her quilting Chapter. The ladies got together and used photos taken around The Villages to make the patterns. each venue was recognized. They bought the background fabric but used fabrics from their stash to make the quilt. It took a year to make but it was a labor of love. It was appraised at $4,433. After it was completed, the ladies felt it was too beautiful and meaningful to raffle off. They contacted Jennifer Parr, the Developer's daughter, and she purchased it for the amount it was appraised. Jennifer's sister, Tracy, decided it was appropriate to hang the quilt in the newest recreation center, Colony Cottage.
