The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The Villages was held May 7, 2013 at Laurel Manor Recreation Center.
The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The Villages was held at Laurel Manor Recreation Center. The meeting was called to order by President Alice Nicholas at 7:10 p.m.
Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
President Nicholas welcomed all members and visitors to the meeting. Over $200 was raised at the Pat Knoechel's demonstration and trunk show. President Nicholas presented a check for $102 to Sandy DeChristofaro, Operation Shoebox Director. A similar check will be presented to the St Vincent De Paul Society. President Nicholas encouraged all members to read Marilyn's Paluszak's article on copyright law on the QGOTV website and to check out the new Guild Program News page. There are still openings for the QGOTV cruise in March 2014.
Ruth Mazurski reminded members of Nancy Mahoney's Dot to Dot workshop to be held on May 8th. This class will be held at the Hisbiscus Recreation Center and not at Savannah. A Seminole-style Patchwork workshop will be held in June and SEW-MINI Things quilt shop will teach a workshop on a lighted Christmas tree panel in August. The kits are $52 and the class cost is $8 so the total will be $60. Panels are available in red, green or blue. Juanita Yaeger will be September's guest speaker.
Nancy Mahoney, known for her two-block wonders was May's guest speaker. She talked and gave demonstrations on how to alternate two blocks to make interesting and beautiful quilts.
There were three Show and Tell participants, four name-tag winners, and four 50/50 winners.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45p.m.
