The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The Villages was held July 2, 2013 at Laurel Manor Recreation Center.

The meeting was called to order by President Alice Nicholas at 7:00 p.m.

Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Secretary's Report was accepted as corrected. Juanita Yeager has been booked for November 2013.

Jo Loder of the Allamanda chapter discussed the instructions for hand piecing patriotic blocks that were handed out to each member as they arrived at the meeting. Members worked on these blocks during the meeting and then handed them in for a raffle.

Several announcements were made:
Signups for the QGOTV cruise to be held in March, 2014 have been extended to the end of July. Cruise participants do not have to be members of QGOTV.
Pick up a card at the back to enter quilts in the Modern Quilt Challenge.
President Nicholas has received approval for the Vintage Sewing Machine Club. Members who wish to join are asked to contact Alice or their chapter president.
Dale Angione announced that Judy Hansen of the Quilt Store of Deland is sponsoring a wearable quilted item exhibit to be held the last weekend in September. Members who wish to enter are asked to contact Dale or Judy Hansen.
Ruth Mazurski gave an update on the programs for the next few Guild meetings. There will be a refund for the August workshop as the kit was reduced in price from $60 to $48. Please see Lucie if you have not received your refund yet. September will be a demo night, October will be a mystery quilt, November we will have Juanita Yeager and  December will be the Christmas party.

President Nicholas read out thank you letters from Operation Shoebox.

Tonight's meeting marked the 20th Anniversary of the founding of the first quilting group that led to the creation of the Quilting Guild of the Villages. Four of the original members were presented with flowers: Dolly Clouse, Marge Robbins and Margaret Kovalchik of Piecemakers and Rita Pickard of the B's. Everyone feasted on cake and frozen custard from Ollie's.

There were eight Show and Tell participants, nine name-tag winners, and three 50/50 winners. Fourteen members won a package of patriotic blocks.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Heather Farnell, Secretary
