The Christmas Party meeting of the QGOTV was held Tuesday December 3, 2013 at Laurel Manor Recreation Center
Food and refreshments were enjoyed by the members prior to the meeting being called to order by President Alice Nicholas at 7:05 p.m.
President Nicholas welcomed the members and all recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Secretary's Report was accepted as read.
The Treasurer's report is on file.
Mary Anne Pankowski of Mulberry Quilters announced that their chapter has placed a Christmas tree decorated with homemade decorations at the Waterfront Inn. Members are encouraged to visit, vote, and bid on their favorite tree at the Inn. All donations will go to the Special Olympics.
Chris Phillips identified the members who volunteered to help her with the Angel Quilts at Cornerstone Hospice.
Lake Miona chapter is decorating several golf carts for the Christmas Golf Cart Parade on December 14. Interested members are to contact Lake Miona. President Nicholas mentioned that the golf cart cover was "found" last year. Sharon Musch can access the storage facility to retrieve it for the parade.
Eight 20 year pins and thirty-seven 10 year pins were awarded (listed below and linked at PHOTOS).
President Nicolas thanked all members and the Executive Board for their help during her tenure as President. A round of applause confirmed her special mention for all the work given to the Guild by Micki MacCumbee and Ruth Mazurski for Programs and to Marilyn Paluszak for the Guild's website. Ruth Mazurski presented President Nicolas with a gift on behalf of the Guild; and President-Elect Beth Bender, presented Alice with a "Past President of the Guild" pin.
Ruth Mazurski reported on the guest speakers for January, February and March with the addition of Marty Moon who will give two lectures at the Sterling Heights Recreation Center after MarketPlace 2014. There will also be a Garage Sale on March 18th, 2014.
The guest speaker was Teddy Pruitt who gave a very humorous talk about quilt appraisals, historical quilts, and her own pictorial quilts.
There were eighteen show-and-tell participants, seventeen name-tag winners and eleven 50/50 winners.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:03 p.m.
