Who should take a class?
We heard a silly rumor that some members don't think they "know enough about quilting" to take a class. Please, don't buy that tune. Joining a workshop from a guest speaker or taking a class from an in-house (Guild) teacher is a lot like taking a local high school's night class back home. It really is how most of us who know anything about quilting learned it in the first place. It is a lot easier to see someone do a thing than to just read about it in a book or magaziine. Sign up for a class or a BEE and you'll also learn that half the fun of quilting is sharing a laugh about backwards sewing. Don't worry that you won't know anyone else in a class either, because at 835+ members no one knows everyone. Just say hello to the person to either side and by the end of the class you might find out you've just met a new best friend, or neighbor -- someone to say "Hi" to at the next Guild meeting.
The early show this Tuesday evening featured a number of the Guild's in-house teachers and their projects. Members had the chance to stroll from one to the other and check out the quilting techniques and projects being offered. Two reminders about these services:
1. All in-house classes are listed under Guild News/Calendar and again under Guild News/Learning Ops where there are links to flyers and supply lists if needed. Classes are generally held on the third Wednesday of a month at SeaBreeze.
2. Some in-house teachers are only available to do classes or demos at a regularly scheduled Chapter meeting. If you are interested in learning a specific technique or doing a project, talk to your Program Committee representative who will have a complete list of options.

Guild VP and Program Committee chair, Ruth Mazurski (left) is always interested in feedback from members about Guild programs. Remember, the Program Committee is made up of one person from every Chapter and they look to Guild members for ideas. From the feedback at the meeting, it was obviousl that everyone had a great time. So many of the projects are easy to do and will help clean up leftover stashes ... or make a great stocking stuffer for that denim jeans stocking! Don't forget that every Chapter President will have a book of instructions for each project so even if you missed the meeting, if you see something here that you want to make, ask for the directions.

GUILD MEMBERS ARE SO GENEROUS: There were way more school supplies than attendees!!
Ruth Mazurski reported that, "We were able to take EIGHT big boxes of school supplies to Stanton-Weirsdale school, thanks to the generosity of our Guild Members." Needless to say, the Program Committee and the school are grateful for the generosity of our members. They send a hearty "Thank you!" for a great meeting and In-House Teachers night.
